ABOUT

In the fall of 2017, 14 Visual Arts (VA) Conservatory sophomores started a new adventure at California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley. The first art classes they completed were fundamental ones like drawing, painting, and digital. As the conservatory expanded so did our Visual Arts graduating class of 2020...we added 4 more students, making our grand total 18!

We were fortunate that our new students shared the same passion and wanted the freedom to explore their craft.  As the students became upperclassmen, they chose specific classes that would help them venture out into their focus. Some of the classes offered were AP Studio Art, Advanced Ceramics, Advanced Oil Painting, Animation, Character & World Building, Graffiti Art, Photography, Plein Air, Public Art, and Video Game Design.

Throughout their high school careers, these VA seniors have been able to showcase their talent through many amazing art exhibitions. They also had opportunities to meet Master Artists, help local communities, and go on field trips. One field trip in particular that was a highlight was our Senior Field Trip to Walt Disney Studios! Our students were able to take a tour of the Studio Lot and Studio Lab; along the way they met some extraordinary Disney innovators!

Shortly after this field trip, the COVID-19 pandemic began and our school started distance learning. The seniors had to make do and we quickly made adjustments (like this website!). Although things were different, it did not stop the seniors from looking at the future and seeing the possible dreams that were at their fingertips. They were ready... they were always ready. It was just a matter of believing in their voice as artists and not allowing anything to stop them from moving forward.
