Ever since I was a child, I have loved to draw. I was inspired by my older brother, who was and still is, a very gifted artist. All of the adults in my life complimented him for his work and I knew that one day I wanted to become as good as him. So, I worked hard. I would sit at the computer and practice drawing works online on my Target-bought sketchbook paper. I would grunt and groan when it didn't come out quite how I imagined, but go "hooray" when it did! After years and years of practicing, I've become very content with how my works come out. I've dabbled in digital, acrylic, oil, watercolor and more. My creative side comes out when I sit down to make art; I get lost in my own world. I've always loved drawing people and studying actions and that comes to life in my art. I think of endless stories while creating characters. Drawing brings me joy when I am down, when I am angry or simply when I want to draw. I draw for myself, give gifts to others, and draw with my artist friends. I can express myself in any way through drawing, whether it be a personal piece on how I feel or another person or a character I've just made up or an outlet. It gets the gears in my mind going and I definitely cannot imagine a life without my sketchbook and pencil.
I plan on attending Art Center College of Design with a major in Illustration next school year. I am going into the Illustration major with hopes of following the Entertainment Arts track. This will allow for me to delve in to what I am passionate about, which is the work behind final animations. I aspire to be a character designer and storyboard artist, leading to an internship at a well-known studio (such as Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon) and then hopefully pitching and creating my own show!
